Did I almost die?
I know that since you weren’t present at the train station, you can’t answer this with complete certainty, but I keep revisiting what happened (if anything) and want to make at least a little more sense of if it was a significantly potentially dangerous moment.
This morning I was waiting for the train. I walked outside to the platform about a minute before it arrived since it was so cold. It’s not a reasonable thing but I hate making eye contact with people in public so I was buried in my phone, and had no idea I was standing way over the yellow line on a platform that is completely level with the ground.
I was just mindlessly switching apps when something in me screamed to look up and the front edge of the train was just in my face, and I stepped backward in the same instant, and at the same time was kind of pushed back by just the force of the train passing, and I just feel like if I hadn’t started to step backward in that exact moment that wouldn’t have been able to happen, and maybe something much worse. What really scares me is some part of the side of the train literally brushed my coat so I was definitely incredibly close.
I was so embarrassed because it was clearly my own ignorance that got me in that situation, and I was so dazed that I mourned something to myself, caught my breath, and ironically continued to bury myself in my phone (but from a further distance) while I waited for the doors to open. I did not look at anyone’s face around me because I felt so ashamed for existing LMAO, I felt like I must’ve looked like a person who doesn’t even know to pay attention to their surroundings.
Then I calmly got on and went on my way, and wondered if something really scary had just happened or I was over dramatizing it. It’s not like I’m traumatized or anything remotely similar, I had a pretty good day afterward, but the train thing has been in the back of my mind.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
