OMC elongated cushion diamond question

General Question or Looking for Advice

So I was cleaning our room, and I happened to find the engagement ring that my boyfriend purchased. He hid it pretty well, but I happened to be putting something of his away in a tub that I never touch, and I happened to find the ring. 🤦🏻‍♀️ We picked the diamond out together with the help from a local jeweler, and fell in love with the stone. It’s an elongated old mine cushion cut diamond that is 3.53ct D color VVS1clarity 1.45 ratio. It’s gorgeous. I tried the ring on (I hope this isn’t bad luck) and I noticed that I could see the gold band, through the diamond, right in the center of it. I don’t know how I feel about that, and I don’t know if I can really do anything about it. Is that normal in an old mine cut elongated cushion cut diamond? The specs are great, but I don’t like that I can see the gold band through it. My boyfriend spent a lot of money on the diamond alone, and I don’t want to say anything (I gave him and the jeweler a hard time when looking for the diamond too). I didn’t take a picture just incase, but thought I’d ask if anyone has the same issue and what did you do?
