I Need Some Advice 😞
So I’m 17, a junior in high school and I’m on my school’s varsity basketball team. I’ve played basketball for just about all of my life and have enjoyed every moment of it until high school. Starting in high school, practices just felt like an uphill battle everyday so much so that i almost quit at the beginning of my junior year. (Couldn’t because the team wouldn’t have enough players and then my little brother wouldn’t have a team to play on. My schools pretty small ngl.) The main reason I think basketball has just not felt the since starting high school is cause my coach just attacks me for literally everything. Not physically ofc but after every play he just has something negative to say to me. I know he means the best for me and my team and that I do make mistakes sometimes and I need to learn from them. However, the constant criticism and then the backlash from my teams as well sometimes is just starting pushing me over the edge. I know this is corny but sometimes it feels like it’s me against the world. I want to continue to play because I love the sport and I look forward to when my brother plays on varsity next year but what should I do? Me and my parents have talked to coach about it a few times and my teammates but they haven’t really been better about it. If you have any advice at all please help me. It would mean the world to have someone to talk to.
