Should the Dumpee try to get them back?

I was recently dumped (about a month ago). Together 2.5 years. He said that he just hasn’t been personally happy, can’t do this anymore but loves me deeply, believes im the best person he’s ever known, all he’s ever wanted but just can’t.

We talked about it for a while in the moment. He just seemed like this was the choice he had to make even though he didn’t want to make it.

We’ve had serious conversations in the past, ones where I did feel like i was begging to be chosen. Makes me feel like this time i shouldn’t. That it should be up to him if he changes his mind.

What do you guys think, in a scenario like this, would you try to get them back or just “let them”
