Uber charged 44 km in 28 minutes, added fake tolls, midnight harassment
Uber India, explain this.
My father landed in Delhi from Bangalore at 2 AM and booked an Uber Go from Airport T1 to Pitampura.
Estimated fare shown: around ₹500
Final fare shown at drop: ₹1,140.85
Breakdown included:
- 44.03 km distance (actual route is about 24 km)
- Ride duration: 28 minutes
- Dwarka Expressway toll ₹220
- MCD toll ₹100
- Additional tolls and surcharges ₹100
Reality:
❌ No tolls crossed
❌ No route change
❌ No destination change
❌ No realistic way 44 km was covered in 28 minutes
The app auto-adjusted the fare claiming a drop-off change that never happened.
This led to:
- A tired passenger forced into an argument at 2 AM
- A driver losing time and peace
- A dispute created entirely by Uber’s system, not by humans
To be clear, we understand that the correct approach would have been to pay the full amount and raise the issue with Uber later. However, given the late hour, fatigue after travel, and the sudden escalation caused by incorrect charges, we paid ₹500, the original estimated fare, in that moment.
This is not a small glitch. This is a pricing integrity failure.
Has anyone else faced:
- Inflated distance?
- Random toll charges?
- “Adjusted fare” with no real explanation?
Uber needs to answer this publicly.

Straight talk
This addition:
- Makes you look reasonable and self-aware
- Removes Uber’s easy excuse of “user refused to pay”
- Keeps the focus where it belongs: system error and false charges
