What if Walt was actually screwed over early on in his career by colleagues?

So we know Walt, had multiple jobs that he fumbled before becoming a teacher, but what if he was screwed over by a lawsuit or something? Like his reputation takes a massive hit, and the best chemistry related career option left for him is being a high school teacher? This would make him more sympathetic how would it affect audience perception of him, and his future actions?
