Episode 8

INT. CREEL HOUSE – ATTIC – NIGHT
The air vibrates.
Black smoke coils together… twisting… tightening…
Until —
The MIND FLAYER forms into a tall, shadowy humanoid figure, eyes glowing red.
MIND FLAYER
(low, distorted)
I’ve waited a long time for this…
to take everything from you…
and make this world mine.
Steve steps forward, lighter flicking.
STEVE
Yeah?
Well you already screwed that up.
He lights a Molotov and hurls it.
The bottle spins —
The Mind Flayer catches it midair.
Tilts its head.
Throws it right back.
STEVE
Oh, come on—
BILLY
STEVE!
Billy shoves him aside.
The fire engulfs Billy —
But he walks through it.
Flames die against his skin.
Vecna watches from the shadows.
VECNA
(confused, irritated)
What game are you playing… William?
Billy cracks his neck.
BILLY
You wanna play god in my town?
Try it.
Beat.
BILLY (CONT’D)
See what happens.
Vecna lunges.
Billy sidesteps, grabs his arm, and SLAMS him into the wall — wood splintering.
Steve pulls a pistol.
STEVE
Okay — Plan B!
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Bullets fly —
The Mind Flayer dodges in slow motion, body bending unnaturally.
In a blur —
It kicks Steve.
Steve SMASHES through the attic window.
STEVE
(screaming)
Outside — he barely grabs the ledge.
Inside —
The Mind Flayer turns to Billy.
Raises a hand.
A telekinetic blast erupts.
Billy’s eyes turn pitch black.
He stops it midair.
The whole attic shakes.
Billy ROARS —
Lifting BOTH Vecna and the Mind Flayer into the air.
Wood cracks. Nails rip from walls.
He’s losing control.
BILLY
(straining)
GET — OUT — OF — MY — HEAD!
He SLAMS them down.
Rips their arms off.
Vecna SCREAMS.
But the flesh WRITHES.
Regenerates.
The Mind Flayer reforms, stepping forward calmly.
MIND FLAYER
You cannot stop evolution.
Billy smirks — bloody, furious.
Pulls a grenade.
BILLY
Should’ve stayed outta Hawkins… asshole.
He shoves it into the Mind Flayer’s chest and kicks him back.
BOOM.
Fire consumes the attic —
Then —
Everything reverses.
Smoke rewinds.
Flames suck backward.
Time itself resets.
The Mind Flayer stands untouched.
Billy blinks.
BILLY
…what the hell?
The Mind Flayer TELEPORTS — striking Billy over and over.
Punch.
Kick.
Punch.
Grabs him midair.
FLIES down —
SLAMS him into the concrete outside.
CRACK.
Billy collapses.
Vision fading.
Breathing shallow.
A portal TEARS open.
Demogorgons pour out.
The possessed follow.
Heading straight for him.
INT. BRENNER’S FACILITY – CONTROL ROOM
Alarms blare.
Max watches surveillance.
Her face drains.
MAX
Guys…
that’s not a couple monsters.
Beat.
MAX (quiet)
That’s an army.
Brenner steps forward, calm as ever.
BRENNER
Eleven… I failed you once.
He opens a reinforced steel door.
Inside —
A hidden armory.
Weapons everywhere.
BRENNER (CONT’D)
I won’t fail you again.
Take what you need.
Hopper immediately grabs an M4.
HOPPER
Now we’re talking.
Nancy grabs a flamethrower.
NANCY
Let’s burn ‘em.
Eddie picks up an electrical attachment.
EDDIE
Ohhh this is metal as hell.
BRENNER
Careful.
Nine thousand volts. Continuous current.
EDDIE
(grinning)
So… spicy guitar solo mode. Got it.
They barricade the doors.
BOOM.
Demogorgons break through.
One lunges at Brenner —
He calmly dodges.
SNAPS its arm.
Rips it open.
Shoots three more with clean precision.
Everyone stares.
HOPPER
Holy shit…
BRENNER
When you study predators long enough…
you learn where to cut.
EXT. CREEL HOUSE – NIGHT
Steve loses his grip.
Falls hard onto a lower roof.
Demogorgons climb toward him fast.
STEVE
(panting)
You’ve gotta be kidding me…
One grabs him.
He headbutts it.
BANG — shoots it.
Another leaps.
STEVE
I really hate this town!
He keeps fighting.
