Do you believe certain religious books but refrain from joining a religion that claims the book is exclusive to their religion?

Here is an example. I believe the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, but when I read it, I ignore all the added words that the LDS religion has put in the book. What I mean is the added introduction pages, the words in headers before chapters, the supposed artistic renditions of Jesus, the footnotes and other things that make you go away from the book itself & focus on other things that are not in the book. Keeping to the pure words of the original writers, I cannot find any mention of a person called "Smith" in the book but there is a Joseph, not a "Smith" - just like the Bible has many people called Joseph. Joseph meaning "he who adds"
