Slowest Member of the Group
Just finished climbing Kilimanjaro and struggling a bit with how slow I was compared to the rest of my group. I didn’t eat or sleep the few days before starting and physically I felt pretty shit from the jump but had a rough first night and struggled badly day 2. I lagged behind the group with a guide almost every day of the trip. I made it to camp only 5-15 minutes after everyone but the group dynamics and coldness was tough to push through. I trained a lot but was also hiking with people who were either considerably more fit than me or people who just generally were handling the altitude much better.
Has this ever happened to you? How do you handle being so noticeably slower than everyone else? My confidence got a bit squashed after this trip even though I was able to summit.
