It's taken me 6 years to get to this point. I start Meds soon.

Medication

I, (F23), After a long and arduous process of seeking my diagnosis . Discouraged by my mother when I first suspected I had it at 17 after reading those wonderful ADHD alien comics- been waiting in the Psych UK queue for 3 years, got that diagnosis last year, and I start medication within the coming weeks! potentially next week i'm not sure.

I'm a little apprehensive but mostly hopeful. I've been told everything I need to regarding them. To watch my appetite, to make sure I'm eating well (especially before I take them each morning). And to not be discouraged if the first type of meds don't work, and ofc to communicate with my prescriber.

I don't exactly know how to feel??? a mix of very extremely strong emotions that i can physically feel in my chest is definitely part of the mix.

Is there anything anyone would recommend I do while on medication otherwise? Any tips and tricks for helping to make it fully work for me?

I'll be starting on extended release (medikinet xl) at a low dose and working my way up to a higher one during the titration process.
