I’m tired of only being loved on my good days
I'm not posting this to blame anybody, and I really don't wanna make my girlfriend out to be some villain cuz she's not a bad person at all. She's loyal as hell, kind in her own ways, and when stuff is going smooth, she's actually super nice to me. She gets me food, surprises me with little things, looks after me how she can, and when I'm feeling put together, calm, confident, and just "okay," she treats me great. I get that a lot of it comes from her upbringing. she had a really stressful, heavy family situation, and I totally see why she had to toughen up to get through it. I know she's got a good heart, and I don't doubt she loves me in her own way. But the thing is, I'm starting to realize I don't feel emotionally safe being my whole self around her. Like, the second I'm not at my best, tired, insecure, struggling, quiet, or just falling apart a bit, I don't feel accepted. I feel like I'm getting criticized, misunderstood, or like I gotta snap out of it fast so things don't go south. Over time, I've kinda started hiding parts of myself, not cuz I wanna, but pretending just feels easier than getting stung by her words. There's this imbalance too that I can't shake: I know her world inside out, her shows, her hobbies, all the stuff she cares about, but she barely knows mine, and sometimes she even calls it boring. That hurts, man. I don't think either of us is the bad guy here; we just learned totally different ways to cope and love. I've put in a ton of work to grow, soften up, and break my old patterns, and I guess I hoped she'd meet me halfway or something. Right now, I'm in this weird spot where I love her, I appreciate what she does for me, but I still feel so damn lonely. I don't know what to do about it yet I just know I'm exhausted from only feeling loved when I'm "okay," and not when I'm just me.
