I built a time-pressured puzzle mechanic: learn rules → solve under 50 seconds
I’m experimenting with a small web-based puzzle format and wanted feedback from people who think about puzzle design.
The core mechanic is:
- You’re shown a compact set of rules / information.
- You get a short time to internalize it.
- Then you solve multiple-choice challenges under strict time pressure.
So the “puzzle” isn’t a single problem — it’s whether you can form a mental model quickly enough to use it in real time.
I’m curious from a puzzle-design perspective:
- Does this count as a puzzle, or more as a reaction / memory task?
- What genre would you even place this in?
- Does time pressure enhance or reduce puzzle depth?
It’s a tiny 3-minute prototype. If anyone wants to try it and critique the mechanic, I can share the link.
