where to fix really old ipad?

I have an ipad mini from 2012 (1st gen? i dont know the models) that was damaged (screen cracked really bad and the display is messed up) around the start of the pandemic i think.

Around year ago or so i was able to find the wire and it did light up and looked kinda glitchy. couldn't really click anything because of the wrecked screen.

i had it backed up when it was still working but the backup has been lost. i really want the old photos and files in the ipad. i think i read that if it still turns on, it can be fixed/recovered. icloud was not used. my parents bought it and aren't too good with tech. i was a kid at the time.

i'm not sure where to go. apple has it listed as "obsolete worldwide". i don't need it perfectly working, just good enough that i can actually open apps and type so that i can do a new backup. not sure if that's possible.

i looked up some nearby places but they kinda all have 5 stars. if you've had a really old tablet/smartphone and/or with similar issues repaired, please share your experience and where you went. i'm not sure if there are particularly good repair shops that specialise in apple products and/or old devices and would most likely have the tools/parts necessary.
