parking tips for richard elliot at scullers jazz club (boston 01/31)

hey everyone, figured i'd share some parking tips for richard elliot's show at scullers on 01/31. that area, right near soldiers field road and the storrow drive exit, is honestly always kind of a mess, especially before the 9:00 pm show starts because you’re dealing with the mass pike interchange too. the hotel garage line can get long and the surrounding streets are tricky.

my best tip to totally skip the headache is to check out prked. it's an app where people rent out their driveways or private garages right next to the doubletree suites hotel where scullers is located. it's usually way cheaper than the garages, you skip the main traffic snarl getting into the hotel lot, and it's a super short walk.

now, for the official options, scullers is in the doubletree suites by hilton hotel boston - cambridge and they have a convenient attached parking garage. show-only parking is validated for $20, which you pay at the jazz club entrance. a pro-tip is that if you purchased a dinner and show package, your parking in the hotel garage is complimentary, which is a nice perk to remember.

if the hotel garage is full or you want to save a few bucks, look across the river in cambridge. the 777 memorial dr lot or the university place garage are only about a 10-minute walk away (0.4 miles) and are often priced around $16 for the evening. for the other garage alternatives, keep an eye on spots like the 41 church st. lot or smith center garage, but those jump up to the $30 range, so pre-booking is a good idea.

as for street parking, it's a big gamble and i really only recommend it if you're willing to walk a ways and read every sign twice because the ticket risk is real. meters in the boston/allston side are generally active until 8 pm. after that, you have to watch out for resident-only parking signs, especially in the neighborhoods near river street in cambridge. seriously, one wrong sign and boston parking enforcement will be there, so only attempt street parking if you find a completely unrestricted spot. since you are going to the 9:00 pm show, the evening traffic coming in will be heavy, so give yourself at least 30 minutes of extra travel time, especially if you have to make the tricky u-turn if you're coming off storrow drive west.

hope this helps you catch richard elliot without the parking headache, have a great time!
