Conservative parents made us break up

Me, a F(22) and my boyfriend M(24) have been dating for over 6 months and we were in a pretty happy relationship. But at the one month mark, my bf came to visit me and my parents got to know about it. It was a pretty traumatic situation to say the least. And my parents were very hurt by the fact that I hid this relationship from them.

Also, to note, this is not my first relationship, but it is definitely the first according to my parents (they believe that since this is the relationship they got to know about, this is my forever, i.e., the one I'll marry)

My bf and I have been in long distance since then, but did meet very shortly in some other place. But it isn't going as smoothly as I wanted it to. We keep having communication issues, and we both get frustrated because we keep missing each other.

Now, you'd say, why dont you just meet? Right? Wrong. My parents, since getting to know about my relationship, have been extra extra conservative with me. They keep telling me, I can only meet my boyfriend once they talk to his parents, and that this is their way of protecting me in this patriarchal society. That I cannot do whatever I want because, my family name is related to me.

Last to last week, I talked to my parents and explained to them logically, that if I do not know what kind of a person my bf is everyday, how could I even decide that he is the one for me? I gave them every reason to get convinced that me and my bf should meet. And to me surprise, they did agree, but with a condition that my bf comes to meet me here at my place first. And we agreed. Which made us get some relief that maybe this was going somewhere.

But then last week, they told that no matter what happens, they first need to meet my bf's parents. I was so mad, and on top of that, I had broken my foot as well, in all that mess of hormones, I told my bf in front of my parents that we should break up. I was a mess. I had never cried in front of parents before, but that made me breakdown really bad in front of them. But even then, my parents stuck to their decision and didn't care how I felt.

What followed next, was a turmoil of emotions and anger. My parents went on their merry way with life, but me and my bf started fighting and discussing about our future. And in that moment, help told me that it'd be better if we separated because he felt too much pressure. I did understand the pressure, because this wasnt the first time my parents had done this to us. There too many smaller but similar incidents. But, him just throwing it all away, was something I couldn't fathom. I do not know what to do. I truly love him a lot, I was ready to fight my parents for him, but looking at how he wanted to escape made me rethink as to if he was worth fighting for. I've been a mess for the past 3 days, and I feel like I am spiraling even deeper. Please help.
