Looking for real‑world Nissan Ariya advice (UK)
My 2012 Astra J was recently written off at 130k miles (getting £1.8k pay out). I was already planning to change car.
Originally budgeted ~£17k, now considering low £20ks for the right car. Looking for a bigger family car (more boot + rear space) as we have an 18‑month‑old, and I plan to keep the car 10+ years.
I drive 12–15k miles/year, with ~90% home charging, and was previously spending £150–£180/month on fuel. Based on my own sums, an EV should save me around £1k/year vs ICE, so potentially ~£10k over 10 years.
I recently had a 25‑plate Nissan Qashqai as a courtesy car and liked it a lot. I was initially going to buy a used Qashqai, but that’s led me to the Nissan Ariya, which seems to tick the boxes.
Questions:
-
Any real‑world Ariya owner feedback — reliability, practicality, regrets?
-
Spec advice:
1–2yr old Engage, <10k miles → ~£22k
3–4yr old Advance, ~20k miles → ~£22k Which is the better buy — newer base spec or older higher spec? Any particular options that are a must?
-
Thoughts on Nissan extended warranty? (~£700 for 2 years). I’m risk‑averse and would likely keep renewing it until the car is ~10 years old. Sensible or overkill?
-
Lastly, if not the Nissan Ariya, any other models you would recommend that gets you similar bang for your buck?
TIA.
