VAC BAN CS 2

i used cheats in the past and i regret them.. I got banned for 1 day then 3 days then stopped cheating. Do those bans get removed or do they stay forever?

(i am very sorry for using cheates and will not probably i am just curious about this topic and i have been playing without cheats for about a year now.)
