parking tips for winter band wars: round 3 at club underground (reno 01/31)
hey everyone, figured i'd share some parking tips for the winter band wars show on saturday 01/31. club underground is in the brewery district, and with doors at 7:00 pm, those free street spots right on e 4th st are going to fill up super fast, which can be a real headache in reno.
if you want to completely skip the traffic and the street spot hunting, you should check out Prked first. it's an app where people in the neighborhood rent out their private driveways and garages. you can often snag a guaranteed spot right next to the venue for the whole night that's way cheaper than a sketchy lot, and it saves you the frustration of circling for thirty minutes. guaranteed spot, super short walk, and you skip the traffic jam after the final encore.
now, for the traditional options, the venue's official info says there is free street parking right there, and that's your cheapest bet. the best news is that downtown reno parking meters are only enforced until 6:00 pm monday through saturday. since the show is on saturday 01/31, if you can get there just after 6:00 pm or so, the meters are free all night long. you should try to arrive a solid hour before the 7:00 pm start to grab one of those close street spots before they are all gone. just read the signs real close because some blocks have special restrictions, like signs prohibiting parking between 2:00 am and 6:00 am, which could affect you if the party runs super late.
if the e 4th street area is a mess, your absolute best, most reliable free backup is one of the casino garages. silver legacy, circus circus, and el dorado all have free parking for patrons and are just a short, safe walk back to the brewery district. they are easy to get into and out of and you don't have to worry about a ticket or getting towed.
another solid free option is the washoe county lot on court street. since it's a saturday, it should be free all day, but it's a bit further walk toward the riverwalk. if you're really desperate and everything else is full, the paid 220 center street garage or the city hall garage are options but are a longer walk and cost money. honestly, aiming for that free street parking after 6:00 pm is the move, or just hitting up Prked for a guaranteed spot and an easy escape.
hope this helps everyone get in smooth for round 3!
