“Generally” why we are devolving as a species.

i know my opinion is simply a droplet of water in the pond that is the internet. but i need to get this out of my system. this post isn’t meant to garner a grand audience, but to put my mind to rest.

I hate. seeing people in Tik Tok comments saying. “Generally” when in fact they mean “Genuinely”.

“this video was generally so funny” “that was generally the worst thing ever” “i generally thought _____ 😂”

Ive had. Enough.

you should have at least an 8th grade education and know how to spell and use words in the right contexts to be allowed to comment on Tik Tok.

I understand that some of the people who use the app are either quite young, or english isn’t their first language. But you can often tell the ones who misuse “Generally” are most likely able to understand it’s not the right word to use. based off the way they use the word “Generally”

Because you’ll see in the contexts they use the word “Generally” youll find that “Genuinely” would fit much better into their sentences.

which brings me to think, they know what the word “Genuinely” means, they just don’t connect the word to its meaning. instead they substitute it with “Generally” which means that they actually do know what “Genuinely” means. they just don’t use the right word to say it.

and so i just wonder.

why.

why do people say “Generally”? do they know its wrong? is it a joke i missed?

perhaps ill be pissed off for the rest of my life not knowing.

if anyone has an explanation. or perhaps relates to my words. let me know.

and forgive me if you find my writing confusing. at times i struggle to even understand what i am trying to say.
