Gum recession

I use a p10 mask that sits on my upper lip. In the past 6 months or so I'm noticing recession on my front two teeth to the point that I'll need a gum graft, according to my dentist. Do you think the mask resting on the upper lip which in turns puts a constant pressure on my gums, is a causal factor for the recession?
