[M4F] Meeting your DPP in person?
Heart beating way too fast. Sweaty hands. Shirt a bit too tight around the neck. Of course I'm nervous, and the closer I get to the bar the more I just want to flee and disappear. And the more I realize that that would be giving up on something that kept me hopeful for months.
And of course I'm second guessing myself. I went the classic way, merely because I'm in here for business. Or the pretext is business. Dark suit, white shirt framing my 6'4 a-bit-too-normal-for-my-taste body. Yes, I added cufflinks bearing the jolly roger as a nod to the first story we wrote together, but is that enough? Too much? Should I have gone full Cpt Sparrow? Or have the superhero costume I've been describing lately made for me? I'm nervous.
I'm nervous because I feel this is kind of important. I get that we are technically strangers, I don't even have a clue about what you look like. But we shared so much, and getting back home hoping for that enveloppe to be red has been a highlight of my days. First thing I check in the morning. How to advance our story of the moment is usually how I get to sleep. Since we met on r/dirtypenpals a few months ago, after I replied to a prompt about a fierce girl posing as a boy to be a pirate, we had a lot of adventures. From space travelers to cavemen, from passion to submission, we've had that many ideas that I don't really know what to expect.
I'm also a bit self-conscious. I've not been really lying about myself, but you know how it is, you tend to present yourself in the best possible light. A little bit more assertive than I would be, a little more dominant, a little more daring. Not detailing the excuse for abs I'm not really happy with, brushing over the cowlick on the back of my head when dealing my short brown hair, preferring to spend more time on my blue eyes.
And a bit worried, also, but there's no turning back now that I can feel the cold metal of the door, and now that I'm hit with the noise of the bar. I look around. Maybe the sign with your username on it was a bit too nerdy, but you've assumed so many names and personalities.
