Lesson Help

General Discussion

19 HCP. Trying to decide if I’m going to stick with my current instructor or go elsewhere. Figured this would be a good place to get some perspective so I’ll lay out the options. Biggest struggles are short game and driver.

  1. Current instructor, $140/hr, PGA member, teaches at my home course. I’ve taken 3, maybe 4 lessons from him in the year I’ve been a member at this course. Was shooting 120+ before, now worst round is 100 with my best days being low 90’s. Method guy with his own software he patented so that’s what he teaches from. Uses video for lessons with lots of line drawing but not with data like a Trackman or Flightscope.

  2. Director of Instruction at Bobby Jones GC in ATL, Class A PGA instructor, $180 for 45 mins. Haven’t met or spoke to the guy so I don’t know tons about him or his teaching style but I know he uses Trackman and has all the accreditation. His info here

  3. SwingPros ATL, an indoor golf studio with simulator technology. Think Golftec but not actually Golftec. Don’t know much about them as I’ve not spoken to them but literally every review I’ve found online for them has been 5 stars in the 10 years since they’ve been in business. From what I see on their site, they seem to be feel based. Check them out for yourself here

I’m 33, been playing about 7 years now. I’m not looking to get on tour but my goal is to be a single digit cap. I practice usually twice a week when weather permits, playing 6-7 times per month. Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing your guys’ thoughts.
