Fulfilling hobbies will help.

Focusing on Me :redditgold:

Hey y'all. It's a good morning today. I hope everyone's doing well with NC, and all the good vibes for the people still with their pwBPD. I've been journaling nonstop since the break up, writing poems, this and that. Thursday, one of the books I got in prep for therapy told me to write down what I want , right down what I want to be, etc.. In the exercise, I kept coming back to writing.

So a couple days ago, I decided to take on some short stories for fun. I wrote one about not being able to sleep, taking too much Benadryl, and having to deal with the Hatman all night (it's a metaphor for leaving my pwBPD, and how it feels like a drug withdrawal).

Yesterday, I wrote the start to something I've been kinda planning for a number of months now. It's a story told in many parts, and in many voices, about a newly discovered species of hallucinagenic mushrooms from Bikini Atoll making their way to a mycologist in Florida. Florida mycologist crossbreeds and sells live cultures to people he trusts online. People online cultivate their mushrooms at home, and have not good times. It's a real "trip" so-to-speak.

It feels good to finally do something that I've never had the discipline or solitude to pull it off. I'm actually doing it. Not only that, I actually like what I'm writing. I love creative hobbies more than anything, for 2 reasons.

  1. Anything you create is a reflection of how you felt in that moment. Like an emotional freeze frame. I have a lot of songs I recorded young, and I like to listen to where I was at that moment.
  2. It doesn't feel like wasted time, because afterwards you have something to show for it.

I appreciate everyone here. I truly hope everyone's hanging in there.
