One major moment that has led many players to believe that Red Velvet Cookie may eventually betray Dark Enchantress Cookie becomes clear in the latest storyline.
In this scene, Red Velvet visibly shows discomfort when Pomegranate Cookie orders fire to be set in an area where the Cake Monsters are still fighting, saying:

“If they can’t do their job properly, then this is what happens. Maybe it’ll make them more useful.”

This line clearly reflects Pomegranate’s view of the Cake Monsters as nothing more than expendable tools.
Although Dark Enchantress later intervenes, saying:
“All of them already have their purpose. Their sacrifice will surely have meaning.”

—seemingly to ease Red Velvet’s frustration—he remains clearly unsettled.
What makes Red Velvet especially likely to leave the Dark side is that he never joined it out of a destructive ideology, but out of necessity.
Dark Enchantress once promised him that she would create a “new, fair world,” an ideal that aligns deeply with Red Velvet’s own values.
However, as time passes, that promise begins to feel increasingly hollow.

This is further emphasized in a conversation within the Kingdom, when Red Velvet asks:

“Do you remember… what kind of world you promised to show me?”

To which Dark Enchantress replies
:
“Ah, we spoke of this a long time ago. Yet, I have not forgotten.”

While her response sounds calm on the surface, it carries the implication that she may never have truly intended to fulfill that promise—using hope instead as a means to keep Red Velvet obedient.
In reality, Dark Enchantress views Cookies as nothing more than resources, chess pieces, and soldiers—not as lives with inherent value.
This leaves Red Velvet trapped in a painful internal conflict:

between the debt he owes his creator, and the family he deeply loves.
Adding to this, Pure Vanilla Cookie directly confronts her, saying:

“You and Dark Enchantress Cookie never intended to give a new world to any of us from the beginning.”

This strongly reinforces the idea that Red Velvet has been “sold a dream” all along—his Cake Monsters reduced to nothing more than weapons for Dark Enchantress’s ambition.
One final, symbolic detail makes this even more compelling.
Red Velvet once told Pastry Cookie that he was born from:

“Half coincidence, half intention.”
This mirrors the real-world origin of Red Velvet cake, which was created by accident through an unintended chemical reaction between natural cocoa powder and acidic ingredients.
In the same way, Red Velvet Cookie himself is a product of both chance and manipulation.
All of this makes Red Velvet Cookie one of the characters most likely to break away from the Dark faction as the story progresses.
That said, if Pastry Cookie was able to leave the Pastry Order, then it’s not unreasonable to believe that Red Velvet could also find a way out of the Dark side.

Fun Fact
Crunchy Chip Cookie once joked:
“If anyone from Dark Enchantress’s side comes to seek redemption, I’ll let them spend the rest of their life doing volunteer work with the Frost Mountain Guard.”
Imagining Red Velvet leaving the Dark side—only to become a lifelong volunteer—is both hilarious and tragically fitting. 😭🤣

If you think Red Velvet will betray Dark Enchantress, you’re right.
