I'm almost unemployed and *awful* at business jargon, how do I improve my CV?
My role is being made redundant within the next month and my payout isn't anything spectacular, and nor is my job history.
I have thirteen years of work history in vaguely design related jobs (but I'm certainly no specialist) and then administration in learning departments, however once again, i'm not a specialist. I really am a 'sit and answer emails and do what other people ask' worker.
I also dont have any university qualifications or additional training, just a BTEC.
For sure I have transferrable skills but nothing is incredible. I know my CV is holding me back and where its lacking but I have a few issues.
- My jobs havent really been important. I have no metrics on anything to use to say how I improved a situation and that seems to be what people want.
- I dont understand business talk and terminology, I'll often sit in meetings where they throw around acronyms or figures and situations and I have no idea what they're on about, and the job descriptions now are full of those and it confuses me, so I dont want to use those in my CV incase I get asked.
Just feeling really dead end about everything and like I am stupid and unemployable, which I'm not. I just need someone to give me a chance but I'm lost at how to even get it.
I have a careers advice meeting in March.
Any advice?
