I just want to log out - Facebook and Instagram will not let me opt out of saved login info

Tech Support

For Meta products (Instagram, Facebook), sometimes I just want to be able to log out, like truly log out. That way, if I have to enter my password to get back in, it makes me reconsider if I ACTUALLY want to be on the app. Also, being perpetually logged in is potentially unsafe (hacking, stealing) However, thus far on phone I cannot log out. There is hopefully a way, but the apps are clearly designed to make actually logging out as hard as possible, to slam engagement with the app down your throat as much as possible.

I do not want to delete the apps totally. Well, that's not true, I would delete Facebook and just use it on my laptop, but my phone literally will not delete Facebook, it is not possible. The apps have their uses sometimes. I already limit notifications. I just want to log out. Right now, I can hit "log out" but I'm not actually logged out, since I can just hit again "log in" or "continue". No password needed, it just immediately goes back in. (I also consider this bad security, for if my phone were ever stolen)

I see the option for "save login info" in my accounts center, but it will NOT LET ME click on it. I tap and tap and nothing happens.

It's so frustrating and sinister. Just let me fucking log out.
