New grad, need advice please.
Hi all, I’m a newly licensed CLS based in SoCal and could really use practical advice from people who’ve been through the early job search.
I’ve been applying to full-time, part-time, and per diem hospital roles since early January, but I’ve had very little interview traction. I had one interview for a position that was already filled at the time of the interview, and I currently have an HR screening interview scheduled for another role. What’s confusing and discouraging though is that even though the interview is still scheduled, the posting itself has since been closed and marked as “process completed” in Workday?
I want to ask the hiring manager about this but don’t know how to do so appropriately, and I’m unsure how much of the review process is handled by ATS versus people, I’m just concerned if something in my resume is tripping something. I’ve also seen advice about calling lab managers directly through hospital directories, but I don’t want to overstep or hurt my chances.
I really want to work in a hospital lab. I’ve worked in reference labs before earning my license and that environment is not for me. Truthfully I also prefer part-time but I still have been applying for everything because I do not know this area’s attitude towards new grads and part-time.
Any insight into how others navigated this stage, especially when interviews were sparse, would be really appreciated…!
