The Curious Cat's attitude toward Alyx having a change of heart is the same asthe fandom's attitude toward the idea of Cinder or Salem having a change of heart

DISCUSSION

Remember how angry the Curious Cat was when he was talking about Alyx's last minute crisis of conscience and desire to fix what she'd done? That attitude is the same attitude that many in the fandom have about Cinder and Salem- that the writers had better not let one of them have last minute remorse and decide to try to atone for what she's done before the series ends, even if presented with new information that she didn't have or couldn't understand before. The writers better not let them have even a little bit of growth before they die. These feelings are stronger toward Cinder than they are toward Salem, because even though Salem's actions are objectively worse, Cinder is the one who took Pyrrha and Penny.

I personally want Salem to just be forced by the brothers to live on a barren planet forever with the way this show is going. The way I feel about Salem having a last second crisis of conscience and possible redemption is this: If they're going to do that, they'd better not make her abuse victim Cinder's death an act of brutal violence and they'd better accompany that Salem redemption with some serious self-reflection on what she has done to Cinder.

The thing is, I think the writers are fully aware that this is how a lot of the fandom feels about Cinder and Salem. I think they had Alyx express that regret and had the curious cat express rage over it as a way of foreshadowing that they're going to redeem one of the two major villainesses anyway and they know people are going to be mad about it. And of the two, I think it's going to be Salem. Unfortunately, redeeming Salem and sacrificing her disliked abuse victim is one way the writers can meet both sides of the fandom halfway.
