Started ativan to take as needed

0.5mg prescribed twice a day but I only take it if I can't calm down. I have super bad anxiety, and have most of my life. I started taking ativan and the next day I feel worse. My anxiety seems worse as well. I had taken it 2 days in a row and I'm stuck to the toilet. Is this normal?
