Help me understand the TJD trade

Discussion

Trayce Jackson Davis has been a decent big for us since we got him. Obviously he is behind Horford and Post, and now Porzingis, but two of these guys are on serious minutes restrictions. TJD doesn’t do much for us offensively but his presence was felt defensively and as a third string what more can you really ask for.

maybe I do see a world where he doesn’t see any minutes in the playoffs and it’s a wasted spot. But that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t need him regular season. We need the big man depth regular season and he is that.

Also the return of a 2nd round pick is bad. We are not realistically drafting a better player in the second round (I should say the odds are low). It feels like we’re giving away TJD for free. He has been a serviceable big and should be at least 2-3 second round picks. If TJD was playing next to a Luka or Harden who feeds lobs to him all day, I think TJD would look great.

I’m also really surprised that Gui beat him out on the roster. Gui has shown good hustle but does nothing. Gui is like a jack of all trades master at none. I don’t really see it with him. The difference between TJD and Gui is that we need bigs. TJD fills a need.

Anyways I write all this to say that I wish TJD well. I hope he makes it and goes above and beyond his current role on the warriors. I’m not liking this move for us I think TJD has a lot more to give in this league!

Let’s go warriors!
