Drawing is hard lol. I saw someone joke about just removing her face as a solution, which made me think of Anran as The Question from DC Comics.

On Anran herself, I've been enjoying her kit and characterization. I think her system where you combo her firing modes to deal extra damage is cool, and her movement being a modified version of Wuyang's is neat. Her dialog is also pretty fun. Her slightly more serious confidence is a fun contrast to Wuyang's sillier self-doubt. Their dynamic of being newer Overwatch recruits lets them bounce off the older members in a really fun way.

I think her design change is odd, if somewhat reductive. Her design from *Elemental Kin* has a real sense of confidence. It has a lot of "stern big sister" energy, and I don't just mean her face. She and Wuyang share design principles (the coat, the earrings, and the color-coded body suit), but hers are changed slightly. Wuyang wears his coat around his waist, Anran keeps it on, Wuyang wears one earing, Anran wears both, and Wuyang's color pallet and body suit uses blue, Anran swaps it for orange and red.

All that works to characterize Anran as the confident and capable one, well kempt and wearing the uniform properly. She even has dress shoes, compared to Wuyang wearing his uniform loose and casually with sneakers.

Her new design feels like Wuyang's cheerful little sister. To be blunt, I think it's a pretty reductive redesign that flattens her into a conventionally attractive teen. Of course there's the face, but that's in addition to how nearly every part of her outfit was changed. Her original design shared the pants, bodysuit, left arm glove, and jacket with Wuyang, plus the different elements like the formal shoes or paired earrings.

In game, not only does she not have the coat, but she doesn't have the uniform elements, and doesn't have the left gauntlet. For goodness sake, she doesn't even have pants! They basically chopped off the outfit's lower half, then gave her booty shorts and sneakers!

She looks completely different, her outfit lacks any of the characterizing elements, and it's a pretty basic revealing set of generically "teenager" clothes. They made her closer to Wuyang's design in a bad way by removing the elements that conveyed her maturity and strength for ones that convey very little.

I know the devs won't completely revert back to her Elemental Kin design. There's likely a practical reason for the change, like distinguishing her silhouette. I'd be interested to learn why they overhauled her design. I just hope the devs do *something* that sticks with her original design ethos. Anything from giving her back her full uniform, to giving her a design that actually has the full bodysuit and/or jacket, or at the very least making her look older than her brother.

I just think Anran has a lot of potential in gameplay and as a character, and her new design is the only part that's off.

The Question of the hour, how to fix Anran's face/look?
