What's with Story mode damage and missing features?

Discussion

Am I crazy or am I doing so little damage in story mode? Seriously, even after a big combo I'll have barely touched the enemies health, while on the other hand they can hit me with one projectile and do the same amount? I'm not worried about the dificulty, it's fine, but a match takes forever to finish, if feels awful why would they do this?

It doesn't help the CPU barely attacks you, and runs around like a headless chicken like they're tryinging to run out the clock, even worse when you do approach they have frame perfect counters so if you're unfortunate enough they'll kill you and restart the same slog of a fight over again, which has happened to me a couple of times.

I know it can be argued for canon reasons but it's not, I can go from being playing Deku vs Shigaraki, to Shigaraki vs Deku and the health imbalance is exactly the same. It's game design 101 to not give enemies more health to make them harder right? Make them do more damage maybe sure but don't make it a slog.

This whole game feels so unfinished and patched together, like I can't use level 3 Plus Ultra moves anymore what because of chain plus ultras in 3 on 3? But most of the story fights are 1 on 1 so what's the point in introducing that mechanic? What is the point of my meter being 3 bars if I'm not using it in the main mode of the game? I'll just pop my PU whenever I get it because there's no risk/reward of saving meter. Normal 3 on 3 games like MvsC have both, it makes supers worthless in story mode doing no damage.

Story mode feels like an afterthought. It wouldn't be so bad if there was any other main gameplay mode. What's the killer mode in this game supposed to be then? Story mode negelcts a core mechanic and just places you against beefed up regular characters, same with Archive. Team up is cool but you only use 20 characters and it's not really the main game. So is it vs? Even then there's no guidance, no arcade mode, nothing really showcasing the games main mechanics which are the fun part, you have to jump in blind. Even then vs mode is cheap, the menu UI is so bad, there's no victory animations anymore. And we're expected to pay £20 for a season pass of characters we can only use in VS mode? A mode that's entirely dependant on whether my friends are over or if the online stays active. I'm not going to buy Star if the online is dead in a couple of months.
