(The nonland, noncreatue cycle of spells don't have art because I wanted to leave them open to interpretation.)

# Characteristics and Mechanics

Iszara is known by her followers as "Iszara the Generous". Despite the archdevils' betrayal, Iszara holds no grudges with their descendants or the crime bosses who distrust her return. She is, after all, patient. Her eternal font of Halo and immortality renders her indestructible and resilient. She offers her gifts of longevity and virility to any who desire it --- mortal, devil, or angel alike --- without restraint. She embodies her parents' dream of an eternal and everlasting peace for all.

However, deep within her motivations is a dark assurance: Iszara, by her will and power, plans to be the sole eternal being in the multiverse. She will be the last light when all of existences goes dark and ceases to be. Iszara's name, as her devil mother secretly plotted, will be the Last Word.

I designed \[Iszara the Generous // Iszara, the Last Word\] and her accompanying cycle of nonland, noncreature spells around a fun group hug concept: granting your opponents life to their ultimate detriment. I wanted to use these cards to inflate opponents' life totals until only Commander damage was the only viable source of life loss to take them out. Then, the wincon when playing with Iszara as the commander: transforming her from a Planeswalker into a Legendary Creature with enough evasion and damage-boosting potential to deliver the final blows against opponents with direct Commander damage. \[Iszara's Edict\] is another thematic option for player removal: enchant a player to increase their life total each turn until a single strike from any creature can take them out.

What Iszara gives, she can take back. And in the end, Iszara alone will stand the victor over time and existence.

# Lore

An age ago before the Phyrexian Invasion of the multiverse, an angel and a devil of Old Capenna united and birthed Iszara, their hopes and promise of an eternity of peace to the angelic and infernal hosts of the plane. For a time, the hybrid child was revered as she generously shared her immortality with her kin, granting them enhanced longevity and virility.

But as Old Capenna fell to the Phyrexians and the archdevils and archangels deliberated a solution to the defense of New Capenna, the archdevils took painstaking measures when dealing with Iszara among the rest of the angels they plotted to betray. Some of the devils argued that Iszara alone could power the city's defenses with her seemingly bottomless font of Halo, however most others agreed that the hybrid was too tempting and dangerous with her power to grant any one of them longer life over the rest. The archdevils mutually agreed to remove Iszara from the table.

When they executed their plot to trap the angels in stasis to power the city's defenses, the archdevils sent the subdued Iszara with a sacrificial agent to bury her far away from New Capenna and deep in the ruins of one of Old Capenna's kingdoms. With the agent's death, Iszara's whereabouts were lost to memory, and with the concerted efforts of the five crime families of New Capenna, she was wiped nearly completely from the plane's recorded and remembered history.

Centuries later during the angels' reawakening from Giada's sacrifice in the Adversary War, Iszara's stasis magic was lifted as well. It took her time to navigate her escape from her labyrinthic prison and find New Capenna once more, where only the angels who remained in the city following the end of the New Phyrexian Invasion remembered the lost hybrid.
