Is it offensive - gift for a newborn? *Not a Muslim*

I am not a Muslim - hence the question

My best friend (Bengali, Muslim)welcomed a baby girl into this world yesterday, and mentioned this to my mum for potential gifts. She suggested a silver chain.

I was thinking of having a quote from the Qu'ran engraved on the chain.

Is this A) offensive to Muslims? B) is there a quote from the Qu'ran/prophet or within Islam about birth/life or something inspiring that you can recommend?
