Hey everyone!

There is a weird leaf on my Ping that I would like to clone, it is an Agnata x Gypsicola Mexican Pinguicula that had a tube shaped leaf!!! I would love to propagate it but I have trouble getting the little clones past the first stage. They all died on me last time unfortunately so I am definitely doing something wrong.

I would love some help with propagating my AxG Ping!

When I pull a leaf, I place it on peat moss that I have in shallow bonsai pot. The pot is watered from the bottom daily to keep it moist.

This was working great, I had up to 4 babies on one leaf! But they never got very big. I kept them alive for several months. They had around 8 leaves and I could see the tiny Trichomes on the leaves glistening in the light.

But then the old leaves died and the new leaves went higher up and the roots were very short. I asked around and was advised to wait to repot them because they were so tiny. I kept it going, hoping they would get bigger but they never did. Eventually the roots lifted off the soil and lost contact. I tried to reposition them and they lived, but still, never got bigger. Then the leaves were down to 5, then 3 and then I let them go, admitting to my failure. They were extremely tiny, no bigger than the head of a pin.

I would love for the tube leaf to be successful but I fear the same fate.

What method should I use to propagate my Agnata x Gypsicola Mexican Ping?

Did I start off with a good method but go wrong somewhere or should I do something completely different like using a plastic bag with paper towels?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thank you all!
