A familiar scenario?

I M40’s (married) met a F20’s (single) for a drink recently. We had communicated for a couple of weeks and really hit it off. Shared pictures, talked on the phone…everything went great. Met up and the chemistry absolutely translated in person. We talked for a while…had a drink then moved on for a little more privacy. The spark flew immediately and things progressed slightly until the breaks were put on suddenly. It was communicated that the intensity was far too high for her and that the gravity of the scenario was too much. We parted ways amicably and never spoke again. Is this kind of an experience common?
