How should I rearrange my big living room furniture to maximize host-ability?
This is the current layout of my living room. The photos (screenshots of Sweet Home 3D) are pretty low fidelity as far as "stuff" goes, but it does highlight a challenge I'm facing. Right now it's hard for me to feel comfortable hosting folks because I don't have great seating options. I don't love the "breakfast nook", and if we want to chill on the couch, I basically only have room for 2 people, and we're all facing the same way.
What should I to do move things around so I can fit
- more seating
- in an arrangement that means four, maybe 5 people can sit comfortably and have a conversation?
I'm not tied to any furniture, and I'm kind of ready to burn it all down and start over anyway.
One challenge though -- the only grounded outlet in my living room is on the wall with the black bench + plant. Right now I have an extension cord running from that wall, under the couch and rug, and to the TV where it is now.
Another thought I had was that it's easy to arrange furniture in a way were things are positioned along the long axis, but that maybe makes the room feel smaller? I wonder what it would be like to have seating pointing towards the windows.
