Will I get kicked out of UBC if I fail Engineering? (International student, really worried)

I’m an incoming Civil Engineering student at UBC and I’m an international student, so the tuition is extremely expensive and I’m honestly really worried. I’ve heard that if you fail or get kicked out of Engineering, you don’t get your tuition money back, and that’s stressing me out a lot. I’m scared of failing courses in first year and being forced out of the faculty after paying so much. How hard is it actually to get kicked out of Engineering? If you fail a course or have a bad first year, do they let you retake courses or stay on academic probation? Is it possible to transfer to an easier major or faculty instead of being removed completely? If any international students or engineering students have been through this, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience. I’m just trying to avoid making a huge financial mistake.
