poetry isn't just rhyming words
or constant rhythm
your rhymes slant towards
the intended meaning of
your primal schism

between feeling and words
you might take pause
and wonder where to catch your breath
read it aloud
sound it all out
is it a poem or a paragraph?

take inspiration from your peers
but poetry is an artful craft
