Is Go enough for Web Penetration Testing, or do I need JavaScript to find more bugs
Hi everyone,
I’m focusing on web penetration testing, mainly bug bounty and real-world web applications.
I currently use Go for:
- Automation tools (recon, scanning, etc.)
- Building backend services to better understand how vulnerabilities work
My question is:
Is strong knowledge of Go + backend concepts enough for web pentesting, or is it important to also build applications with JavaScript (Node.js) in order to find more bugs?
Many modern web apps and APIs seem to be heavily JavaScript-based, so I’m wondering if relying mostly on Go might limit my effectiveness as a pentester.
From a practical perspective:
- Is Go sufficient if the goal is vulnerability discovery?
- Or does learning and building with JavaScript significantly increase the chances of finding more bugs
