Chronostasis
There’s a kind of glitch you only catch when you stare straight at the machinery. You look at the timer and the second doesn’t move. It sits there like it’s refusing to update in front of you. Like you caught the world mid-refresh.
I think it’s you noticing the seam between frames. Most of life runs on autopilot, your mind smooths over the cuts, fills in the gaps, keeps the film continuous. But the moment you lock your attention onto the smallest unit, one second, you stop consuming the story and start watching the rendering. Your attention becomes a spotlight on the update cycle. And for a heartbeat, the system shows its hand: reality isn’t experienced as a stream, it’s stitched together. The stitch normally stays hidden. Watching the timer is like staring at the edge of the screen until you see pixels.
That’s why it snaps back the moment you look away. The glitch is the moment you realize your normal sense of time is a comfort feature. You weren’t seeing the world slow down but you were seeing how it’s assembled.
