Wawak Perform-X thread shredding?

Hi, I recently placed my first Wawak order and bought mostly Perform-X serger thread. I've usually just used whatever serger thread was on sale at Joanns or giant spools of white polyester from Amazon (I do way more serging than basic sewing) but decided that, 1) I wanted more colors and 2) I ran out of my basic colors from Joanns, so I needed a new place to get thread from. Of the 12 spools I bought, the 7 that are on blue spools and not wrapped in plastic have performed exactly as expected. However the 5 that came on black spools wrapped in plastic have started shredding from the top thread (not boobin thread) after about a foot of sewing, regardless of speed. I haven't treid them in my serger yet, just my Janome sewing machine. Any ideas as to why this is happening? They are all the same brand, all the same material, and 3000 yard spools, but only some are shredding.
