put in my 2 weeks
i finally put in my two weeks at chipotle and honestly it was overdue. this job slowly drained the life out of me. it wasn’t one big incident rather it was the nonstop burnout, chaos, and feeling like you’re stuck in a system that doesn’t care how fried you are as long as the line keeps moving.
i was working at chipotle 6 days a week, monday through friday, and also working my second job 3 days a week. granted, i asked for the hours because i needed to make a living, but i pushed myself until my body and mind completely collapsed. at some point it stopped being “grinding” and started being pure survival mode.
we were running a full-on shit show most days. constantly understaffed, insane expectations, angry customers taking everything out on crew, and management acting like this is all normal. there was pressure to move into a leadership role while i was barely surviving my current position. i had zero motivation left for the kl role because i was already mentally exhausted and numb.
management played a big part in it too. weird comments, favoritism, and an overall uncomfortable environment. coworkers were nosy as hell, always in your business, gossiping, watching instead of helping during rushes. it never felt like a real team… just stressed people turning on each other.
and the stuff you see is wild. people literally hitting a pipe in the bathroom. managers hiring sketchy people because “we need bodies.” obvious issues ignored just to keep the store running. it felt unsafe, unprofessional, and depressing. meanwhile the rest of us are expected to smile, hustle, and take abuse like it’s part of the job.
the stress from chipotle completely tanked my mental health. i started dreading every shift and felt disconnected from myself. lowkey, i don’t even want to work my two weeks out! i’m just sick of it at this point.
i won’t deny that this job helped get me to where i am financially today, and i’m grateful for that. but i honestly don’t know what’s next 🤷🏽♀️ i just know i’ll finally feel like a person again.
