Figured I’d share this modified Journeyman in drywax tin cloth. I picked it up for $160, lined in thin cotton and the sleeves in polyester. I had been wanting a neat looking wax cotton field jacket lined in wool, even toyed with the idea of sewing one from scratch with some yards of green duck canvas and a lucky thrifted purchase of houndstooth patterned wool fabric.

This Filson jacket was cheap enough to me to be the perfect candidate to get re-lined with my wool fabric and take less effort than constructing a whole new jacket!

My wife generously did the major sewing task here! One of the nicest upgrades beside the wool liner, was opening up side access of the bottom two pockets for hand warmers, also lined in the same fabric! That green duck canvas also got used to reinforce the hand warmer pockets, while also adding visual design onto the jacket. Inbetween the outer layer and the wool liner of the sleeves is a sewn in layer of silk from a pair of silk pants as an extra layer of insulation. The final piece added to this Filson was a Pendelton brass zipper that I bought from a Pendleton warehouse store during our PNW trip last summer. I didn’t have real plans for it back then, but thought it would be cool for something later. Fast track to now, and it blends in well with the brass snap buttons! Plus, Filson and Pendleton had a business relationship at some point so this edit of this jacket, I think, is pretty solid!
