How do you keep weight with GP?
I don’t have a confirmed diagnosis yet (GES is in a couple weeks), but my doctors are 99% sure of the diagnosis even without a study. 19F, by the way.
Having said that, everything tastes like cardboard to me at this point. Flavored drinks/protein shakes are so disgusting that I’ll just throw up. I have no appetite or hunger, and I have no interest in food whatsoever. I’m autistic and always attributed this to ARFID.
But despite all that, I spent the last year working my ass off, counting calories, upping protein, going to the gym, just to gain weight. Managed to get to 135lbs (5’7) and I was very happy with that.
Then I tried a new narcolepsy medication that left me deathly sick, throwing up multiple times a day, and bedridden. I’m 117lbs now.
A YEAR of progress lost in about a month. I’m so tired. I also have chronic pain and a heart condition in addition to the narcolepsy, so I’m sick of putting in so much effort to survive. I don’t have any motivation to try that hard again if I’ll just lose it all that easily.
Even if I do get GP as a confirmed diagnosis, what even are the options? Everyone says protein shakes but I can’t handle any liquids with flavor—water is it and has been it my whole life. I feel so hopeless. What do you all do to stay at a healthy weight?
