Whiplash between nice and evil
I posted a few days about feeling incredibly stuck due to my uBPD mom using my senior dog as leverage among other things.
Summarizing the other post: I told her I would move out and she said I would no longer be allowed to leave my dog (technically the family dog btw) at home if that was the case. She then told me I was no longer allowed to leave him at all period even while I'm living there, and that I would need to take him to work with me or figure something else out. I ended up working remotely yesterday and had my dog with me at the park/in my car.
Today, I was getting my dog's things ready to take him with me again when she suddenly stopped me and told me to leave him at home with her. She then proceeded to lecture me about how I was causing him stress, that he was a senior dog that could "drop dead any minute now," and that I was stupid for spending the day with him at a park/my car instead of dropping him off at a doggy day care.
I have told her multiple times in the past that dropping him off is not an option due to his growing aggression towards other dogs and people, and his many other health issues. She knows this, yet acts like I'm the villain for trying to do what I thought was best for my dog in that moment.
Anyways, she ended this lecture by saying if I had just apologized to her, she never would have told me what she did, and that it was my fault for causing my dog stress by blowing things out of proportion and taking him with me. Sigh. She then "sweetly" told me to go to work and focus on that instead of thinking "negative" thoughts about her and the situation, and that she would take care of my dog while I was gone.
Does anyone else's BPD parents do this? It gives me whiplash. These "nice" moments are rare, but I also know they're not real. I can't let my guard down because I know the smallest thing could set her off again.
