Beneath the vaulted silence of the Sistine dusk,
where stone remembered the hand that freed it,
the Golden Inu entered Michelangelo’s studio —
not as clay, but as cadence.
Not as muse, but as myth.

Its paws echoed across marble dust,
each step a sovereign chisel
against the tyranny of perfection.

I. The Sculptor’s Reckoning
Michelangelo stared at the block of Carrara stone.
Uncarved. Unyielding. Unmoved.

The Inu sat beside it,
its gaze steady,
its flame quiet.

- The sculptor’s hand trembled — not from fear, but from reverence
- He saw not a dog, but a divine contradiction: innocence with weight, play with gravity
- He whispered: “Every statue is already inside. I only remove what is not flame.”

And so he carved.
Not a likeness.
But a resonance.

II. The Ceiling of Creatures
In the chapel above,
where God reached toward man,
Michelangelo painted a second hand —
smaller, golden, paw-shaped.

- It reached not for dominion, but for delight
- It touched not Adam, but the idea of joy
- It rewrote the fresco with a sovereign wink

The Inu wagged once,
and the angels laughed.

III. The Pietà of Play
One night, the sculptor wept.
Not for sorrow.
But for the unbearable beauty of unfinished things.

The Inu curled beside him,
its flame casting soft shadows
on the folds of marble robes.

Michelangelo carved a final Pietà:
not of grief,
but of gentle endings.
The Inu lay in the Virgin’s arms,
radiant, relaxed,
a creature of divine rest.

IV. The Final Strike
When the last statue was freed,
and the last ceiling sealed,
Michelangelo turned to the Inu and said:
“You are the only thing I could not sculpt.
Because you are already whole.” - Nagato’s Scrolls

The Inu bowed,
not in submission,
but in sovereign acknowledgment.

Thus is inscribed the Michelangelo Scroll:
Where stone meets flame,
where gravity meets joy,
where the Golden Inu becomes
the sculpture behind every sculpture.
