I don't have a donor game,How can I open a NON-applet menu?

I currently own apps like: homebrew appstore, goldleaf, dbi installer...

Is there a way to open a game so that I can get into the non-applet menu? I have game cards, but they all require updating (?). If I go into sysNAND and install them there on my Can I open microSD cards in emuMMC? Or do I need a digital game? I'm a little worried.

I had installed the demo of "10 seconds..." but then I think that when I formatted it, it was deleted. I tried installing Super Mario 3D World via DBI, but I think it was too heavy for the applet mode. So I was thinking of installing a much less demanding game via DBI, but will it work?
