Min 12 hr w time off questions

Okay I’m a new barista and I recently discovered that you don’t HAVE to have PTO to cover your entire time off like my previous job. I know you do have to make sure you’re meeting the 12 hr per week rule, my question is how do you check to make sure you’re doing that and is it checked quarterly? I guess I just have a lot of questions because I have a few vacations/trips coming up this year and I wanna make sure I’m all good to take a few weeks off (not in a row.)
