I'm trying to make a free pattern for a lil shroom guy and i'm struggling with a step

i'm making a pattern i plan to post for free, but i can't find the best way to make one of the steps in the pattern explainable

how would i write out pattern instructions that illustrate to go into a row before the previous and into the posts and a skipped stitch? the "post" is a hdc (1 chain though)

should i just redo the pattern and make the hdc(chain 1) into dc (2 chain)?

terminology i have best is like:

R9 (I into R7): slip stitch though the post, then slip stitch into the skipped stitch next to it; repeat till the end
